First Aid Training (HLTAID011)

This nationally recognised First Aid course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently in emergency situations.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment for the units listed below.


Language, Literacy and Numeracy (ACSF)

To successfully complete this course, participants should have skills aligned to the following Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) levels:

  • Reading: Level 2–3

  • Writing: Level 2

  • Oral Communication: Level 2

  • Learning: Level 2

Individual student support options can be discussed at enrolment if required.

Units of Competency

  • HLTAID009 – Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • HLTAID010 – Provide Basic Emergency Life Support

  • HLTAID011 – Provide First Aid

First Aid certificates are valid for three (3) years.


Education & Care Sector (Optional)

Participants working in education and care settings may also complete:

  • HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting

Please advise at enrolment if this unit is required, as additional assessment materials and workbooks will be provided.


Course Delivery

This course is delivered using a blended model:

  • Theory is completed at home using a workbook

  • Practical skills and assessment are completed in a face-to-face session

  • Participants must provide valid photo identification on the day of training


Workbook Requirements

Workbook submission requirements vary by location:

Guyra & Glen Innes

  • Workbook must be completed and returned four (4) days prior to the course start date

  • Participants then attend the face-to-face practical session

  • Courses proceed once minimum participant numbers are reached

Armidale & Other Locations

  • Workbook is completed at home

  • Bring the completed workbook with you to the face-to-face practical session
